Satu siti situ

After a leisure drive of Kerteh-KL, I picked up Yuni dear from her outstation meeting in Subang and for the first time we try a bite of live poetry performance, Malam Puisi Utusan (MPU) held at Laman Santai, Istana Budaya.

Prominent literature figures that performed last night were Pyan Habib(marvellous performance), Datuk A. Samad Said (Catakserukin is so true), Khalid Salleh (so provoking) and some artists like Mila, Hujan, Datuk Siti Nurhaliza, Hafiz AF, and also some other figures like astronaut-2-be Mejar Faiz, the one with tukang karut voice (he might be a tukang karut after all, his poems were performed in dikir songs), this professor with keris and patriotic poem, and that datin not-so-familiar.

The turnout was nice with some small stalls around serving drinks and light supper servings.

The hosts that night was Mr. Sabri Yunus and Mek SPT. I learnt a poem too last night, a one liner poem from Sabri Yunus,

Merdeka
Tuhan tidak pernah mahu kita merdeka.

Last night was a surprise i keep for Yuni, just to see how much she bite into poetry icing. After an hour and 30 minutes,

Permata (Untuk Isteri Ku)

Ku ingin kau jadi wanita mulia
Yang tahu harga budi dan hati
Seorang lelaki bernama suami

Kerana engkau isteri
Ku ingin kau mengerti bahawa hidup ini
Tak semudah yang kita janjikan
Yang kita janjikan
Kerana kau isteriku

Randomness

1) Congratulations to Hafiz for winning Akademi Fantasia season 7. Honestly, contestant wise = boring. Cikgu wise = OK la. I can see the determination in Tiara, but sorry to say that 10 weeks was not really enough dear.Yazid really ruined Kasidah Cinta by broadway-ing the song. Eddie Hashim bengang kot. Isma pun kureng bagi saya..and please, i dont want to mention Akim and Aril. Out of all to me, Hafiz paling OK kot. So i think he deserves it.His rendition of I Believe I Can Fly was not bad at all. I kind of like Malaysians who can sing English and Malay songs well. Barulah well-rounded eh?

2) I just got my period today. One day late actually, which left me and hubby wondering whether something is happening in my tummy. Seriously i have thoughts of getting a test kit, but we were just overreacting eh? Baru sehari lambat..hihihi. Kalau seminggu lambat different story la.I tried googling our “dilemma”, and i found out that a girl’s menstrual cycle have the possibility of being “interrupted” when she starts being sexually active. That explains a lot 😛

3) We have a bundle of invitations for weddings, and an engagement on 30-31st May and 6-7 June. Oh well i guess everyone does, since its the “peak season”. Honestly we wish we could make it to all reception, but it seems like we have to arrange our time accordingly. We are happy for each and everyone of them, and wish that they will be as happy as we do now 🙂

4) Work wise, i am starting to find lots of b*llsh** lately, especially when it comes to upper management and office politics. I am not going to talk about it, coz it will require another post. But in a nutshell, i am afraid that i will get tired of “going against the current”. I wonder where has the motivated fresh graduate attitude gone? Ugh!! Somebody rescue me.

5) I need to start exercising again. Dah lama kot tak exercise..i feel all the fat snugging in my body. Maybe its just a state of mind, but breaking a sweat really feels good y’know. So maybe i should head to the jog park again later.

Hey hey i am back.

Actually i was back from the holidays for quite some time already, but time does not seem to allow me to make an update.

So Alhamdulillah, everything is now done and settled. All 4 events went well and according to plan, and now we are moving on with our new life as husband and wife.

To be honest, it is still surreal to both of us, the fact that we are both married to each other. To find my husband sleeping beside me when i opened my eyes, and to kiss his hands when saying goodbye, is a wonderful feeling, but surreal. We are both grateful we are married, but it seems like just yesterday we first laid eyes upon each other.

Now that all the wedding tsunami is settling down, i find myself occupying myself with a new activity:

HOUSEKEEPING 🙂

The house is like a train wreck these days, full with cartons and cardboards and boxes of gifts and stuffs from the wedding events. Not that i am not thankful for the gifts (Thank You everyone!), its just when i take out the items it left me pondering on where to dump the packaging.

Hubby is not around everyday to help me with the mess (we are still weekend couples for the time being, as hubby has to work), so its me doing most of the job for the time being. Takpe, sikit sikit lama lama jadi bukit. I am going slow and steady, while bracing myself to withhold the messiness.

All the gifts that we received was wonderful, especially from old friends from school and Mira. Thanks so much you guys for the IKEA vouchers, you really made my day. So me and hubby was down at IKEA last weekend for our shopping spree, and we managed to get a queen bed frame from there. Besides that i grabbed a couple of shelves, NORESUND bedside table and a MALM drawer chest. And lots and lots of kitchen accessories, plus a complete quilt set and storage items. Heeee 🙂

I know hubby must have been very headachy to layan my shopping frenzy, but thank you for hanging in there dear :* There is another item that we both wish that we could have, but due to logistical issues, we have to hold on first. Haih, kenapala duk jauh2…tak dapek la nak merasa PAX wardrobe yang sgt cool itu.

Next step is to rearrange some furnitures in the house, and the bedroom especially, to make room for hubby. Dulu used to live alone so bolehla conquer semua, sekarang kenalah share pulak. Hehe.

Good thing that tomorrow is a public holiday, so i have a whole day to myself. Yeay.

Bachelor Time – 24 hours

It’s finally here. The most anticipated chapter of my life.

The feeling? Well, of course, anxious. And excited too. I keep on imagining how life changing it could be, when I decided to spend the rest of my life with someone. Nevertheless, I am happy. After almost 7 years being together, going through all the ups and downs, now its only a bit more than 24 hours until we are officially husband and wife. Rasa cam tak percaya pun ada. Heheh.

Anyway, all preparations are now set. My to-do list is getting shorter by the day. I am starting to loosen up a bit and have a good rest before the 3-day event happens. Honestly it was really tense, especially when it comes to the final week. But with some helping hands I managed.

Yesterday I went to a spa to pamper myself before our big day. After surveying around, I chose to go for Cinta Sari Tradispa in Ampang. Actually I have been eyeing this place since I was living in Ampang for a while, back in 2006. I would definitely recommend this place if you want to go for a traditional Malay bridal preparation.

The package that I took was Beautiful Bride Maya – where it comes with a complete body treatment. First I started with a sauna, then a refreshing massage. Then I had a lulur treatment (kind of like scrub, but using natural ingredients), and a body masque right after. Before the floral milk bath, the therapist asked me to do Mandi Hadas just to properly cleanse up. After the milk bath, they did a 7 flower ritual bath, like our mother used to have it back in the old days. Mandi Aura Seri, they named it, or in a more layman term, Mandi Bunga.

I did my manicure and pedicure at the same place, and followed with threading on my eyebrows, mouth and forehead area. However I would not recommend their manicure and pedicure treatments, as they are not as expert as those in the nail salon. If you have extra budget, opt for a nail salon for your m&p’s. They used OPI but then the manicurist is not up to my expectation. It was not so bad, but it could be better. I am now rejuvenated and ready 🙂

So,this probably be my last entry until I get back from my holidays. I would like to take this chance to thank everyone who was involved directly or indirectly with my wedding preparation, from my family to my friends to my vendors/wedding service suppliers. Kalau rajin nanti maybe I can list down all my vendors for the next bride-to-be reference.

Until then, see ya when I see ya and do pray that everything goes well 🙂

xoxoxo,

Bachelorette and Baby Party

3 weeks and 2 days until the wedding.

Honestly I feel like i am not in the mood for work anymore. Eventhough its still another 2 weeks until my long leave starts. My colleague said to me just now,in his Chinese accent, “Your heart is not here anymore, its flying already”. Which is so true. Haha.

Last weekend my close friends threw a pleasant surprise for me and Sarah, and they called it Bach-Baby Party. I was informed beforehand that we were required to gather at Taman Metropolitan Kepong, but i was not expecting foods, cupcakes and gifts. So sweet lah you guys, thanks so mucho! Muahs!

Oh i am so photoblogging.

Enjoy!

Finding an inspiration…

Since the first day we decided to wed i actually have set my mind that my colour pallette would be something classical and does not fade in time. My mum has given me hints that she likes the colour gold, and after giving it a thought i figured that it was not bad at all. Instead of making it gold and yellow, like my mum preferred (which i personally think that its too strong), i am going with gold and cream/ivory. So far i have managed to make things as close to the pallette as possible, but now i am a bit unsure about the “stronger” colour. There would be some hints of  Brown in my pallette, because the dais/pelamin would be of a wood tone. And, i have incorporated the colour into the family theme. But, i am yet to decide on the flowers.

I have been googling my colour pallette a lot lately, and thank God for the Internet, there are quite useful sites that is helping me with it. Besides Martha Stewart Weddings (thanks to Anis who triggered my mind to surf that site), i have found this blog -> The Perfect Pallette

There is a lot of inspiration boards created by the writer, and of course, a lot of choices for my pallette. This would be very helpful for me to make up my mind! Yeay!

Pink, Champagne and Gold

Fuchsia and Latte (but i think Gold will go well too,no?)fuschialattechampagne

Red and Gold

Brown, Ivory and Gold

Burgundy and Gold

Burnt Orange and Gold

And here are some boards for Green, which would be the pallette for Emri’s reception.

Green, Black and White

Light Green and Lavender

As for the hantaran for my side, the colour pallette will be Red,White and Silver. So does the Solemnization Ceremony. As usual, i always love classic colours 🙂 No need inspirations for this one, i already made up my mind. Hehe.

More colour pallettes for your own inspirations on the blog. Have fun! 🙂

Ooo emak saya mau kawen (part 4)

1 months and 2 weeks to go..

How far am i with the preparation? Alhamdulillah, everything is on track. Except for some items that i can’t decide yet coz i figured its best to wait until my parents touchdown on 4th April 2009.

I took my annual leave on the 23rd and 24th February to settle with the official wedding matters in KL.Actually i went there on Saturday, 21st. It was a kill-two-birds-with-a-stone thing, coz i was there for Mira’s engagement. Congratulations dear, and good luck with the wedding prep. Its going to be crazy, but make sure you have fun on the way. Heheh.

So..the most important part is done. Good thing about doing official matters in KL is that the service delivery timeframe has improved. In one day we managed to get it done, walaupun terpaksa ke sana dan ke mari a bit.

Its simple, if you want things to go smooth, it does not hurt if you prepare early. Just make sure that all related documents are ready, endorsed and photocopied if necessary. When you meet the Penolong Pendaftar for your area, insya Allah he will cooperate better if you give him all the things he needs. After all, in our religion, marriage is a noble thing to do,so why make it so difficult?

At first i thought that the “Kebenaran Berkahwin” document would be a formal letter, with the typical letterhead and such. But, it was just a simple endorsement stamp on the application form, and a fee of RM25, and a receipt. Get your man to acknowledge the receipt (and pay..heheh), then you can head straight to your jurunikah’s office.

dsc007181

Once you get the permission from the state religious office, JAWI, in my case, submit all the related documents to your jurunikah, and he will take it from there. He will be arranging for a briefing session with the bride, groom, wali (bride’s father) and saksi (witness), few days before the real event, just to make sure everyone knows their role. Then, pray that everything will go smoothly when the big day comes 🙂

Our solemnization venue would be at Masjid Wilayah Persekutuan, Jalan Duta, insya Allah. So we managed to drop by, meet the jurunikah, survey the area to do the ceremony and clarify things with him. One teeny weeny not good thing is that during our preferred date, there will be an electrical maintenance at the Dewan Akad Nikah. So, we have decided to do it at the Dewan Solat, but we picked the open air area, instead of the closed one. It’s a bit different, and different is what we love.

masjid-wilayah

I can settle down a bit, now that its all done. What is left is the reception preparation, which also requires careful planning, coz heck, you dont wanna waste paying for a nice place if its not going to be beautiful isn’t it?

I love being my own wedding planner. You should do it too 🙂
