Oo emak, saya mau kawen (part 3)

I am having a long weekend this time, coz i was on leave last Friday. Yeay to that.Alhamdulillah, we completed our HIV test at the nearby government clinic, which to my awe, was jam packed with people. But the sad thing is, the place is too small, with too great a patient volume. Maybe they should consider to expand. We got lucky during the registration queue, coz we got the next number. Not because we skipped the line, but somehow someone put back the next number (105) on the ticket stack. The current no was 104, and the number on the stack was 112.That sped up the process.

At first i thought we needed to go to a lab or whatever to do the test. But it was just as simple as going to the Green Triage area, where they usually do consultation and take records of vital signs. So, after 40 mins, we were done. The results were sealed in an envelope together with the form, but we still know it, of course. Alhamdulillah, it was non-reactive for both of us.

So, now we are one step ahead with the legal matters. Next step is to meet the kariah for our areas, get their signature, and straight to JAWI. We plan to go next week, so hopefully everything goes well (eventhough i am a little bit worried that we cannot stick to plan coz Emri is now waiting for the verdict whether he needs to go for an outstation to Miri next week).

I have finalized my wedding dress. So i am going to meet Kak Zue my mak andam next week too to give her the green light for the tailoring.

Cards are going out soon, but i have not finished folding and tying the ribbons to it. Aiyooo. Better get started. I have completed one dulang for hantaran, so that is a good progress, not? Heheh. And here is my crammy craft corner at home :

Warghhh! So many things to do, and the irony is, i am still being a procrastinator. I deserve a slap on the face. Haha. Some help would be great..but i am not sure where to find it.. 😦

Anyway, i cooked for lunch today. Simple je, but because i have not posted food for quite some time, so here goes :

Oo emak, saya mau kawen (part 2)

Selamat Pagi.

Its a beautiful Sunday morning  and today i am up early. I have loads of things to do around the house, since i was not home last weekend. Laundry, vaccuuming the house, clean the toilet. Ni baru duk sorang ni, macam2 dah kena buat. Kalau rumah dah berisi macamana pulak..heheh.

Its about another 2 months to go before our wedding and now i find myself overwhelmed with lots of things to do. Basically we have settled the major services that we need – mak andam, photographer, cards. The only major thing left to do now is the marriage registration. If it could be done earlier, we would have. Only thing is that the authorization letter is only valid for three months. Plus the HIV test also has to be done at maximum 2 months before the nikah date (we are doing HIV test in Pahang).

Last weekend we were off to Nilai to get the craft supplies for my hantaran. Poor Emri has to follow me back and forth to the same shops just because i felt like i have not get enough. My goodness Nilai is superhot, i am not sure why. Maybe it is because of the 3 weeks drought that i came to knew when we reach my aunt’s place in Seremban. Nilai is a great place to get all wedding crafts, but make sure you go there prepared. Wear comfy shoes/sandals, put on your best tshirt and maybe a sunglasses too.

So far the preparation went well (minus the headache and some small arguments). Honestly i never had a dream wedding made up in my mind, but as i go with the flow, i pretty much created my own dream wedding on the way. The most important thing when you are planning is your budget. Once you have a budget, make sure you stick to it, and try to find the best bargain to get a quality and satisfactory services. If you decide to splurge somewhere, balance it out by moderating the other.

People may say that they are not ready to get married, for various reasons. But once you and your partner decides that it is time, be happy and plan ahead. Do not let money be a sole factor of determining it. Insya Allah, when you really want it, surprisingly you will find your way 🙂

Lets play guess.

I remembered back in my uni days, my close friends and i used to gather round after dinner or sometimes during non-class hours (or during skip class hours :P), and we played “guess”. Guess what? Well, its “Guess who gets married first?”.  There was usually no one-name answer, the answer will always be a specific list, in a particular order of who marries first.

I remembered the top 3 who made the list are the same person. Its just whether she gets the first, second or third. And the top 3 people were me, Sarah and Amira. Why? Particularly because at that time, we were the ones who had steady boyfriends. There is another girl actually, Arfah, but knowing her goals and her directions in life, she was put off the list in the first place, eventhough she and her bf that time was one of the hottest couple in school.

Too bad we never really recorded down who gave the precise answer, if not, that would be another reason to gather up the girls and celebrate the winner. Heheh.

Now, it has been more than 2 years since we left uni, and last December 08, Sarah made it first. And by April, insya Allah it would be my turn. Another few months then it would be Amira’s turn, and her engagement is coming real soon. And to add to the good news, all 3 of us had and will tie the knot with the same ol’ boyfriends that we had in uni days.

So, who really won the guess game? I think we could never recall, but definitely what we wished for has came true 🙂 Of course, we always continue to hope for the best for the rest of the girls, who will someday have their turn. Meanwhile, you ladies, have fun!

Just something out of the topic, Diyana has now turned into an ex-housemate. Hope she’s now settled down in her new place, some few kilometres away. So now we are officemates only, but we’ll remember to catch up sometimes 😉

Oo emak, saya mau kawen (part 1)

It’s just about 4 months until the big day. Honestly,i am feeling a bit tense. Not for the fact that i am going to be a Mrs soon, but for the preparation it requires. This is a huge thing for me, and suddenly i found myself being so perfectionist. And of course, so stressed out.

copy-of-dsc_2604Where is the ring?

Last few weeks i have been travelling to KL with mr fiance, mainly because of the wedding prep. Since we are both working in the East Coast, but our wedding is going to be in the federal territory, it takes much more of our time. To get the picture, add up the mak-andam, photographer and wedding invitation cards scouting with our 3 hour travel to and fro.

Why KL you may ask? Well, then i’d ask back, why here? I had a notion from my close friends when we met up few weeks ago –  “Yuni, ko kena settle down kat KL la. Your life is here”. So true. Bukan aku nak berlagak aku ni “Kay-ELL” and whatsoever, its just that i think its my hometown and i am so used to it. All of my close friends are there, even my family, if they are back in Malaysia.

Oh well, I am not complaining. I am just telling 🙂

So..after scouting around we have pretty much met our potential mak andam. Went to 4 places actually, and wow, the prices are soo different. We got a price quote from rm5000 to rm15 000. Of course la kan, tak mampu la den nak ambek yang rm15k tu? So lastly, we decided to go with the one who quote us the lowest, but, with a good taste. Who? Nanti lepas kitorang confirm aku cite lagi k?

For the photographer, me and fiance has decided that we’d go with the same team who did our engagement – The Photographer. The price is reasonable for quite good work.Eventhough based in Kuantan, they do not have extra charge for services in KL.

Once done with the booking-required services, then comes the hantaran part. Nampaknya dah kena start beli raw materials for the decor now, and i am lovin’ it. I am yet to finalize the colour theme for the hantaran, but pretty much, i have the idea already.

Talking about wedding, a close friend is getting married this Christmas Holidays. So to dear Cik Sarah, all my well wishes to you, and hope you have a beautiful wedding. So sorry i cant make it 😦

After 2 weekends…

…only today i managed to make myself update. Kudos to me.

1) Me and fiance have been certified fit to wed. Yeay. Tak bajet langsung ada assesment, but oh well, we did great. Alhamdulillah. So people, you may want to prepare yourself better if you decide to go for a Kursus Pra-Perkahwinan in Pahang. The ustaz-es was not so bad after all, most of them did a great job of keeping the attention.

2) Went to Kuala Lumpur for Deepavali Holidays. Bunked at many places, aunty, friends.Glad that i was able to catch up with most of my close friends. Thanks Erin for the stay, i had loads of fun hanging out at TTDI. Made me miss the neighborhood. We should hang out again someday. And thanks Mira for the other stay…and for the great food too =) Lepak rumah Lubna on Monday morning, and she tapau me her delicious macaroni goreng for dinner. Thanks dear.

And not to forget, i did a lot of shopping too! Hehe. KLCC, Sg Wang Plaza, The Curve, IKEA..~ fuh!

3) This weekend i stayed at home. Yesterday i managed to clean up the ground floor. Good job Ayuni. God knows when i will make myself do it again, coz i am really a lazy bum when it comes to vacuuming the house. Maybe in another 2 weeks time, at least 😛

4) I have put on a kilogram since Raya. So i have to work extra hard to lose it. I think its going to be tough, but i really have to! Honestly, that extra kg is what making me procrastinate my trip to the tailor. Huhu. Anybody wants to give me a wake-up lempang to my face?

5) Just a quick movie suggestion for the couch potatoes like me. You guys have to watch Recount (airing on HBO now). I found myself stuck at it this morning. Shed some light about Bush and Al Gore elections back in 2000. So helpful for a political ignorant like me!

Dahle tu…Tido la pulak..Esok keje.

p/s : Just in case Mr Syed Muzafar is reading this, thank you for the lawn-mowing help. Hehe. Nanti akak belanja ye dik (wek!!) 😀

Reality check.

I think i have gained weight. My “benchmark” jeans is starting to crunch my waistline. Damn it. Blame the festive season. Or maybe blame my ownself for indulging too much! Ugh! Like what Dhuha said, its a love-hate thing.

Anyway, reality hit me when i received this book last week :

Hehe=)

So we are going to attend Kursus Pra-perkahwinan Islam this weekend. We means me, my fiance and a couple from office. I wonder how it is going to be. They also have put a checklist of the basic things that we should remember, in order to pass and get the certificate. Thank God all of it is just at the tip of my tongue. Insya Allah. Tapi kan….(soalan ini ditujukan kepada orang2 yang dah kawen, atau yang dah attend kursus kawen).. Betul ke tak pass kalau takleh hafal? Huhu…

It has been a while since i was busy planning for the wedding. And i have another 6 months to go. Looks like i have to continue it now. Next task is to go to the tailor, survey for cards and revising my guestlists. It is surprising to find that there are some people who suddenly appear when they heard that you are getting married. Its flattering, but honestly i really have to prioritize. I wish i could just invite everyone, but i am no second Siti Nurhaliza or Erra Fazira or another rich girl.

I choose to invite my guests with my own personal touch. So when you hear from me, you know you are always in my thoughts =)

One Iced Cafe Mocha later…

  • Here is a late Happy Merdeka to everyone. Saya bangga menjadi rakyat Malaysia. My Merdeka this year was in bed, ZzzZZZzz when it striked 12am. Doesnt mean that i am not feelin’ it right? =P
  • Featured JogSpot : Taman Gelora – recreational park by the sea, just few minutes from home.

  • After one month plus of no exercise (due to laziness and procrastination), i finally took my heavy behind to go for a jog today. Since its Merdeka Day, i can say that it is my personal liberation.
  • Later i went to grab an ice cafe mocha from Starbucks and bought some entertainment. Its still a holiday tomorrow so i guess i could have some rounds of movies. And i hope that the cafe mocha does not put my exercise effort into the drain…

  • I am afraid i have injured, if not killed a cat today. I thought i was delusional because all i heard was meowing but i can’t find any cat.I think it was stuck in my car bumper and i took it for a ride until the journey home from my jog. It made a desperate escape while my car was on the move, and all i saw was a wiggly-wobbly cat from my rearview mirror. Apparently i was not delusional, but i am terribly sorry for that poor thing. Huhu.
  • By the way, I have finalized the date for my wedding and its going to be on the 18th April 2009. Just so you know. And last week, i have found the venue for the reception, and went for an impromptu hantaran and ring shopping. I love the Mega Sale.
  • And here is a Selamat Berpuasa to everyone. May this Ramadhan will be better than last year and may we all gain the best from this holiest month. Insya-Allah.

I am as happy as a bunny.

It’s kinda late to blog but Alhamdulillah, my engagement ceremony went well. Now i am officially engaged to Engku Emri Engku Abas, who would soon be my lawfully wedded husband. Insya Allah.

Erkk..was that really me saying that? Haha. Sometimes i still cant believe that we are engaged and getting married soon.

I got this question from some friends “So, apa perasaan menjadi tunangan orang? “. Frankly, i would say i am happy. Happy that we are halfway on our journey into another phase of our lives. Happy that we belong to each other now. I also feel that we grow much more attached.

Of course, i also got advises, from friends and family. Being a fiancee means that i have to start learning to put him into my everyday life, especially when making decisions, and when doing things that normally “orang bujang” do. Being a fiancee means that i already put my hands into a lifelong commitment, meaning that i have to take his feelings and his concerns into account. Oh well, it’s hard, i admit that. Being an independent girl all along before, having the liberty to do whatever i want to do. But its OK, i am willing to change. For him of course, and for us. For love.

People say that engagement period is when the relationship is tested the most. Well that may happen, but i know that we both have the strength to make it through. Insya Allah. After all we already had 6 years of ups and downs together, and we have learned a lot.

So now i have to start thinking of the weddingla pulak..This time it will involve more things to prepare, more things to organize and do. Aiyak..At some point i think that the western style of having a bridesmaid is a great idea. They help the bride a lot! Maybe i should have a few. Heheh. I will think of it.

And since the engagement wave and settling down is now over, i find myself back in the kitchen. Papa bought a lot of fresh prawns when he was here, i cant help myself from cooking a sinful dish – Garlic Butter Prawns..so Yum!
